Dear Panthers and IHSNO Parents/Guardians,

We never thought we would ever say this, but it's snowing in New Orleans!

Because road conditions in our area are expected to remain hazardous for travel over the next several days as the snow begins to melt, IHSNO will remain closed on Wednesday, January 22 and Thursday, January 23. This decision was made with our school community's safety in mind and in accordance with NOLA-PS and local officials.

On Thursday, our team plans to assess our buildings’ heating systems and pipes and get in touch with our food service and transportation providers to determine when we can re-open safely for our Panthers. We will notify families about our plans for Friday on Thursday afternoon by 3 p.m., so please continue to monitor your emails and our social media channels for the latest updates.

For our families applying to Orleans Parish Public Charter Schools for next year, please note that our NCAP Support Session originally scheduled for Thursday, January 23, will be cancelled. NOLA-PS has extended the NCAP enrollment deadline to Wednesday, January 29, to provide families with additional time to complete their applications.

On Wednesday, January 22 and Thursday, January 23, NOLA-PS will provide virtual enrollment support to families from 8 a.m. - noon and from 1 - 4 p.m. Families can make virtual appointments via enrollnolaps.com/connect or speak to a Student Enrollment Coordinator by calling 504-910-8500. Bilingual support will be available.

Additionally, NOLA-PS will host an Enrollment Support Day at Mahalia Jackson Elementary (2405 Jackson Ave., NOLA 70113) on Saturday, January 25, from 9 a.m. to noon to assist families with the application process.

IHSNO will continue to monitor weather conditions and we will be back in touch on Thursday. In the meantime, we hope you enjoy this historic winter storm!

Please stay weather aware and keep safe and warm.
